17 political entities applied so far for local elections (media)
Political parties have one more day to submit their lists with the names of the candidates for municipal mayors and municipal assemblies for 22 October local elections.
However, in order to be certified, the political parties need to pay the fines set by the Election Complaints and Appeals Panel. So far, only the Serbian List has paid its fine, while the Democratic Party of Kosovo has made a partial payment. From the €348 thousand, political parties so far paid €47.817.
Head of the Central Election Commission, Valdete Daka said that none of the biggest parties has submitted names of their candidates so far. “It appears that major political parties hesitate to apply a day before the deadline. Perhaps they want to keep secret the names of their candidates for municipal mayors,” Daka said.
