Delawie: Special Court will not judge a population, but individual cases (Koha)

The U.S. Ambassador to Kosovo, Greg Delawie, spoke at a press conference about the importance of the Special Court.

He once again expressed condolences for the murder of the Serb leader, Oliver Ivanovic, and added that he is there to talk about a completely different matter.

“I am here to talk about justice... I want to tell why the Special Court is important and why America is trying to empower it. The Special Court is deeply important to the United States.  We care about the Court because our intervention in 1999 was based on the idea that war crimes against anyone, anywhere, were an assault on international justice; we remember the suffering of a million Kosovars driven from their homes, camped out in the mountains or across the Macedonian border; we wanted to bring them justice.  American soldiers put their lives on the line to defend that principle, and we owe it to them to continue to defend it today,” the U.S. Ambassador said. According to him, the court will not judge a population; it will not judge the war of any army or ethnicity. “It will deal with individual cases,” Delawie said.
