In two days, 30 thousand people sign petition for raped women (kosovapress)
The number of the signatures of the people who seek international justice for the sexually abused women during the conflict in Kosovo has reached 30 thousand only in two days. However the entire activity will not end on Friday, since the Kosovo Statistics Agency (KSA), will continue with collection of signatures in rural parts of Kosovo until the end of the next week.
By the end of the next week, KSA will commence credibility analysis and they will come up with an official statement about the response of Kosovo population. This was confirmed also by the outgoing Deputy Prime Minister Edita Tahiri, who said that the petition has had e good start, however he expects a greater response. She said that they have visited majority of the municipalities where everyone seemed engaged and interested to seek international justice for the raped women during the last conflict in Kosovo.
Even though she believes that the United Nations will soon draft an official report on the matter, she says that this organization should initially explain why was Kosovo left out of the report on rapes during the last conflict.
Tahiri is convinced that number of the signatures will increase significantly during the next days. According to her, this will be an argument in hands of the Steering Board in addressing the UN officials and the international community for justice and punishment of perpetrators of these genocidal acts.
Signing of this petition has started in all Kosovo municipalities on Monday and it will end on Friday, while in rural areas, it will conclude by the end of the next week.
