Police have offered 10,000 euro reward for information after Pista was shot in the back several times in the early hours of Sunday morning when he was leaving a restaurant in Rahovec/Orahovac.
The motive for the killing is so far unclear.
Police said that “it is believed that the suspect was hiding behind a wall which was covered by some flowers and shot the victim with four bullets”.
The killing was condemned by the Kosovo authorities.
Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga said that the perpetrator or perpetrators must be brought to justice.
“Such acts threaten the law and order and the system of justice,” Jahjaga said.
Pista, who was a manager at Kosovo Post and Telecoms, was reportedly one of the Democratic Party of Kosovo’s best-supported MPs at national polls on June 8.
Hashim Thaci, the outgoing prime minister and the head of the party, called on people to cooperate with the police to solve the killing.
“I assure you that the state is taking all the necessary measures and will make all the necessary efforts to shed light on the incident and to bring the perpetrators of this barbaric act to justice as soon as possible so they can be punished,” Thaci said.
