Final report, without visas in 2016 (Koha Ditore)
Kosovo’s Minister for European Integration, Bekim Collaku, writes in an opinion piece that the European Commission’s visa liberalization report on Kosovo, which was published last Friday, is the last of its kind and that the citizens of Kosovo will be able to travel visa free in 2016. Collaku argues that while senior European officials, such as the European Commission President and the EU Commissioner for Internal Affairs, were praising the report on Kosovo, “there were skeptics in Kosovo that made ungrounded claims that the process has failed or that the roadmap is not being implemented or even that some of the most senior EU leaders were wrong”. According to Collaku, the opposition, media and commentators in Kosovo should not manipulate and spread unnecessary negativity and confusion. “The road toward visa liberalization cannot be followed with a destructive approach but rather with constructiveness and consensus”. Collaku further writes that the European Commission will recommend visa liberalization for Kosovo as soon as possible early next year. “Kosovo is ready for visa liberalization and nothing can stand in the way of this process now,” he concludes.
