Kosovo Police about the Nis Mayor: Punished, Not Beaten (RTK2, Beta)

Kosovo Police states that the Mayor of Nis, Darko Bulatovic was fined on Saturday evening for failing to comply with the rules of border crossing and police orders, and that he was not injured.

"At around 1:00 am, the mayor of Nis, at the border crossing Merdare, passed over the waiting column of the vehicles. The officers who were on duty and regulate the traffic at the crossing point stopped him and he refused to go back. After refusing again to go back to the column, police members have intervened and handcuffed him without knowing his identity," the police said in a statement.

According to the foreseen procedures, the competent duty prosecutor was informed, and he was brought before a judge. The judge fined him with 150 euros in an expedited procedure. After paying the fine, Bulatovic was released.

"There was no information that he was injured. The case took place at the Kosovo Police Station in Podujevo in accordance with legal procedures." All other information, including those from the media (kurir.rs), is speculative and does not stand," the Kosovo Police said in a statement, reports RTK2 and Belgrade based news agency Beta.
