19 years since murder of photo reporter and Politika associate Momir Stokuca (KIM Radio)

Association of Journalists of Serbia (UNS) and its branch in Kosovo. Association of Journalists of Kosovo and Metohija (DNKiM), reminded that today is 19 years since photo reporter and Politika associate Momir Stokuca, was murdered in his family house in Pristina, that he did not want to leave, KIM Radio reported.

His sister Branka Damjanovic told UNS, the family heard about his murder on TV news.

“I immediately went to Pristina and tried with the help of Committee for Support to transfer his body to Nis, where the entire family was living already, but they did not allow me. I could not bury him in Pristina either. The situation then was that difficult, and they would need to secure entire cemetery in order for funeral to happen,” Damjanovic said.

Momir Stokuca was murdered on 21 September 1999 and buried in Gracanica on 24 September. His sister moved his body to Nis in 2014. The family never received any information about the investigation and suspects for the murder.

UNS research showed that report to UNMIK police “vanished” from the archive and was justified with change of authorities of the investigative bodies and moving.

There is no information about this murder in EULEX either. Neither in Kosovo Special Prosecution, nor Serbian Prosecution for War Crimes. Despite UNS reminding about this case, for 19 years no investigator called his sister Branka Damjanovic to testify, KIM Radio reported.

“I received no official document, only one paper from the hospital, which I had to leave in the monastery. We still do not know who has killed him,” Damjanovic said.
