The foreign policy committee of the European Parliament tomorrow should adopt the text of the report on Serbia, which includes a compromise amendment on the possible correction of the borders between Serbia and Kosovo, reports Radio Television Serbia (RTS).

"Any agreement can only be accepted if it is mutually consistent and in line with the overall stability of the region and international law," the text of the agreed amendment states.

A total of 239 amendments, submitted on this year's report of the European Parliament rapporteur David McAllister for Serbia, are reduced to 27 compromise amendments that should be included in the final text of the Serbia report.

They will be voted on Tuesday at a meeting of the Foreign Policy Committee of the European Parliament in Brussels.

RTS reports that a special attention of MPs has a compromise amendment number 25, which refers to the debate on the possible correction of the borders between Serbia and Kosovo, including the "exchange of territories".

At the beginning of the text, to be included in the final report of the European Parliament on Serbia, but also on Kosovo, emphasizes the "multi-ethnic nature of both Kosovo and Serbia" as well as the fact that "ethnically homogeneous states should not be the goal in the region".

"The dialogue is supported that mediates the EU as a framework for reaching a comprehensive agreement between Serbia and Kosovo. It is considered that any agreement can be accepted only if it is mutually agreed, considering the overall stability of the region and international law," concludes the text of a compromise amendment that includes the interventions of 10 deputies of the EP.

In the draft text of the report on Serbia, which refers to Kosovo, MEPs also call for the implementation of all the agreements reached so far in the framework of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, with emphasis on the establishment of the Community of Serb Municipalities (ZSO).

The importance of the acceleration of the "new phase of dialogue" is emphasized regarding the comprehensive normalization of relations between Serbia and Kosovo through the "defined legally binding agreement", and the European External Affairs Service is required to evaluate the work of both parties in the fulfilment of obligations.

"The killing of Kosovo Serb Oliver Ivanovic is condemned unanimously and stresses the need for real co-operation between Kosovo and Serb investigators, but also international assistance, in order to bring the perpetrators to justice," also stands as part of the text inserted into the report on Serbia at the insistence of MPs of the Foreign Policy Committee of the European Parliament.

After adoption in the Foreign Policy Committee, the report on Serbia should be adopted by the end of November by all the Members of the European Parliament at the plenary session in Brussels, reports RTS.
