Sheholli: The idea on borders' correction still actual; 95 percent would sell property in Gracanica (Kontakt plus radio, Slobodno Srpski)

The Director of the Institute for the promotion of inter-ethnic relations Fatmir Sheholli says that the initiative of correcting the borders as a solution to the conflict between Belgrade and Pristina and the normalization of relations is still ongoing, despite the opposition of some Kosovo parties and politicians.

-Haradinaj was against the correction of borders with Montenegro as well, but he accepted it at the end. The idea of correcting the borders was definitely sent to the public by Thaci. Thaci never did something that in the end did not happen, and I follow his political development since 1999 and in Rambouillet, in Vienna, when independence was declared and now. I have said on an Albanian television that it appears that we have to listen to him, because, whatever he said, he has fulfilled, although at some point it seemed as impossible - Sheholli said.

Sheholli does not exclude new early parliamentary elections due to the “thin support” the Government of Ramush Haradinaj has.

-Considering that we have such situation full of diametral stances among the people, or we must sit down and talk about the dialogue Kosovo – Serbia, or there will be new elections, there is no other alternative solution, said Sheholli. He also blames and the Serbian List for such a situation in the political scene and its unclear moves as a partner of the ruling coalition.

- Due to the fact that you depend on 10 Serbian MPs, we have come to this situation where we are now. You do not have the majority nor you know whether you will continue the program tomorrow or think about the elections, explained Sheholli. According to a survey recently conducted by the Institute for the affirmation of interethnic relations in Pristina, Serbs have received more than five billion euros from Kosovo Albanians for their property from 1999 to date.

The data were obtained through a real estate agency in Kosovo.

"Most of the properties were sold in Gracanica, sales continue in central Kosovo, even the last four months enormously ...almost 95 percent of those interviewed in the municipality of Gracanica told our interviewers that they would sell the property as much as of today "if an Albanian pay as it should''. So, they would leave today. Secondly, each of them said, "actually, I do not have much to look for here, because half of my family already is in Serbia, and half is here". We actually saw that something is happening in this regard and the sale is even higher than used to be; there is no return nor there will be."
