Discussion about army, Serb inhabitants worried but will not leave Kosovo (Radio KIM)
“Laws on transformation of Kosovo Security Forces into an army will be adopted on December 14,” Constitutional Law Professor Riza Smaka told Radio KIM.
On the other hand, Bojan Teofilovic from the Centre for Peace and Tolerance thinks that forming an army is almost impossible without constitutional amendments. Serb inhabitants said they are worried, but would not leave their home places.
Professor Smaka believes Kosovo army should not be reason for concern, since every state in the Balkans has its own army. He added that army would be defensive and not aggressive.
Teofilovic said Serbs still link that forces with Kosovo Liberation Army and conflicts that took place in 1999 and the aftermath of it, adding he does not think Kosovo army would be established any time soon.
However, announcements on forming the Kosovo army have disturbed Serbs living in central Kosovo.
“We are worried, but we will not leave from here. If they need to kill us, let them do it. We will not leave our home places,” Zoran Petrovic from Dobrotin village said.
“There is a strong fear, but what can we do? Will we sustain? Seeing how things evolve, I think it is difficult,” Spasoje Zdravkovic from Caglavica village added.
