Macedonia wants positive solution for Kosovo, Zaev tells N1 (TV N1)

Macedonia’s stand is that we want to see a positive solution reached by Belgrade and Pristina which would bring lasting peace, development and progress towards the European Union, Prime Minister Zoran Zaev told N1 on Wednesday.

“We don’t know what they are talking about, we just listen. I went through a difficult process of negotiations with Greece. It’s not easy for President Aleksandar Vucic, nor for President Hashim Thaci. I encourage them to find a solution,” he said.

Zaev added the three key issues in the Western Balkans are the name of Macedonia, Kosovo and Bosnia-Herzegovina, adding that he is convinced that solutions would be found for all of them.

Zaev said the ideal in the region should not be closing but opening of borders. “Our ideal is that there should be no changes to borders. Our region has to cooperate, and Western Europe will respect us for that,” he said.

According to the Macedonian PM, the opening of borders in the region would mean easier flow of people, goods, services and capital.
