Dusan Janjic: Question is why Serbia does not have political platform for Kosovo (Danas, BETA)

Dusan Janjic from Forum for Interethnic Relations said yesterday that Pristina by adopting the platform and establishing a political team is a step ahead of Belgrade, while Serbian authorities should ask themselves why they have not made such a document, Danas daily reports.

Janjic further assessed Pristina gained significant advantage against Belgrade, in the eyes of Brussels and Washington, since the adoption of the platform was one of the obligations Pristina promised to do in Brussels. According to Janjic, the platform by preceded with consultations, and only two opposition parties did not support it.

Janjic went on saying that the platform has both good and bad sides. The good side is that it defines negotiations framework and reporting procedures which was not the case so far. Speaking about weak points of the platform Janjic mentioned maximalist goals set forward by Pristina.

“The platform requests full recognition of Kosovo by Serbia and mutual recognitions as well as territorial status quo. These are maximalist demands that can prevent dialogue,” Janjic said.

Janjic noted this represents a danger for Pristina as well, and it should worry over such weakness that might block the Kosovo delegation in further negotiations.
