EU: Kosovo to form Government with respect to Constitution (Kosovo online, N1)

Maja Kocijancic, a European Union spokesperson, said that new Kosovo Government should be formed in line with its Constitution, the Kosovo online website carried the Gazeta Express report on Friday.

She added the EU was looking forward to the assembling of Kosovo’s new Government, probably made up of the members of the Vetëvendosje (Self-Determination) and the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), the two parties which ended neck-to-neck in the Sunday’s general elections.

The leader of Vetëvendosje Albin Kurti said he would talk to local Serbs but not to the members of the Serbian List, party supported by Belgrade, which he described as "a state party, but which secured all ten Parliamentary seats guaranteed to a Serb minority.

The List said that under the Kosovo Constitution, it was impossible to form a government without them.

Kurti and LDK candidate for Prime Minister Vjosa Osmani said they were not in a hurry to form a coalition with the Serbian List but would be meeting other political options before talking to the List. “We will not be running to the Serb List before meeting with Serbs who are not in the Serb List," Kurti said.

“The European Union is looking forward to the formation of a new Kosovo’s Government as soon as all procedures are over. That is important for Kosovo to promptly continue with reforms in economic and social areas, as well as in the rule of law, implementation of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) with the EU and in the Belgrade – Pristina dialogue mediated by the EU,” Kocijancic said.
