Serbs south of the Ibar/Ibër River to go to the polls, but not from the north (Politika)
Mitrovica - Serbs south of the Ibar/Ibër River will go to the polls in early parliamentary elections on June 8th, while their compatriots from the north, because of the conditions imposed by Pristina, will not, unofficially learns Politika.
Representatives of the Serbian list from northern Kosovo say that they cannot go to the polls under the conditions which require threshold of 70 000 for the 11th mandate, where the ballots are with the insignia of the state of Kosovo, and where procedure on election boards is violated. According to our well- informed source, "Srpska", which has 67 candidates, of which 19 came from Gracanica, must "choose between two evils", convinced that out of the 10 guaranteed seats, as it belongs to the Serbian community in the election, will get at least 8 mandates.
- Although we do not have time to campaign, even under impossible conditions, we agree to enter the Kosovo parliament; I expect we will be able to do a lot of things in the future session of the Assembly. The conditions are not adequate, there have been hesitation on whether to get out or not, but we are forced to be at the polls, assured that the Serbian people will vote for us - said our source.
Serbs in the north would not "under these conditions of Pristina be at the polls," and this for Politika confirmed Goran Rakić, mayor of the northern Kosovska Mitrovica, and Stevan Vulović, the mayor of Zubin Potok.
- We cannot invite people to come go to the polls on June 8, when Pristina is blackmailing constantly and continuously, and I doubt that anything could change in the coming days. The CEC has done this deliberately, not respecting the law on general elections, and we cannot accept that the voting materials have statehood insignia of self-proclaimed state of Kosovo – says Goran Rakić.
