Everything that appeared these days about EULEX is neither a news nor surprise for us, says Mayor of Leposavić/Leposaviq and member of the Steering Board for Implementation of the Brussels Agreement, Dragan Jablanovic. He went on to say that it’s been half a year now since they have pointed out numerous misuses of the part of EULEX, particularly the prosecution, but no one was willing to listen to them. “In the contrary, whenever we would bring attention to their misuses they would become worst toward us, and after every meeting with them, at least 20-30 persons from northern Kosovo would be summoned, whereas some were detained without any grounds and later released without any explanation. We believe that the time has come to clear up all that is dirty in that organization and that only honest people remain, who would be able to provide rule of law on the entire territory of Kosovo,” said Jablanovic.

“The problem is the so called uniformed component of this mission which is supposed to be under control of the civil component of this mission, what is not the case in Kosovo. Whenever we would tell ‘civilians’ on misuses of ‘unformed ones’, they would answer that they can’t do anything about it since they are not under their control,” said Jablanovic and added that some members of EULEX , particularly those from prosecution, still live in the past with stories about Serbs being the bad guys.

Jablanovic went on to say that Serbs used to fear from KFOR and others who participated in bombing of Kosovo, and that they actually expected human and legal assistance from EULEX. “It turned out to be the opposite. We have an excellent cooperation with KFOR and correct relationship, but none of that is the case with EULEX. However, I believe that this is the end of their self-will,” said Jablanovic.
