Distribution of electricity in the north can be provided only through KEDS (KoSSev)

Kosovo government informed that company for distribution of electricity “Elektrodistribucija Sever" D.O.O. which was established by Zubin Potok Municipality is considered to be ‘illegal company’. A new ‘Kosovo company’ will be established in order that consumers are supplied with the electricity and that they start paying electricity bills.

This was agreed by Pristina and Belgrade, after Serbian side allegedly ‘realized’ that it can’t establish a company for distribution of electricity, since (Brussels) agreement doesn’t provide such an authorization.

At the Kosovo government’s meeting on 19 December Kosovo Minister in charge for  negotiations with Belgrade, Edita Tahiri, explained the results of the latest round of talks between Pristina and Belgrade teams in Brussels held on 16 and 17 December, and said that according to Kosovo laws only KEDS is authorized to distribute the electricity.

On 19 November, Zubin Potok Municipality decided to establish a company ‘Elektrodistribucija Sever" D.O.O. which was meant to deal with the distribution of electricity in northern Kosovo. Serbian Liaison Officer with Pristina, Dejan Pavicevic, attended the Zubin Potok Municipality’s session of 19 November, and explained that in line with the Brussels agreement one of the local self-governments in northern Kosovo is authorized to deal with distribution of electricity in the north.
