Nikolic’s proposal shows that Serbia has not forgotten Kosovo (RTK2)
Leader of Civic Initiative SDP Oliver Ivanovic evaluated as a positive news initiative of the Serbian president Tomislav Nikolic to present a proposal for the Kosovo issue. The discussion on the proposal will keep public attention on the issue of Kosovo and will draw the attention of the international community, who believe that Kosovo is not an important issue to the Serbs.
"It is good that President Nikolic initiated talks on the proposal though, I agree with the Prime Minister Vucic that it cannot be solved soon," said Ivanović, who is in custody in Kosovska Mitrovica.
He is convinced that the issue of Kosovo will be again ‘on the table’ and that it will be solved three to four years after Serbia joins the EU, according to the Cyprus model. "Albanians will think about it only when we join the EU together with Kosovo, according to the Cyprus model. Then they will see what they lose when they stubbornly insist on independence, which is not recognized by the Serbia. It will present serious obstacle to achieve membership in the UN and therefore membership in any serious political organization, "Ivanovic said.
Ivanovic said that the north of Kosovo will certainly be a topic, adding that northern Kosovo remains to be a backbone of the Serbian policy towards Kosovo.
