Discussion about Agreement on justice (RTK2)

At the meeting of Parliamentary Committee for Communities, Kosovo Deputy Minister of Justice Lirak Qelaj said that the agreement on justice provides functioning of the unified system of justice throughout the territory, including the north. Qeljaj said that the first steps in implementing the agreement between Pristina and Belgrade, which refer to the integration of Serbian judges and prosecutors, resulted in the publication of the competition for 48 judges and 15 prosecutors, which is open until 25 May 2015.

Representatives of non-Serb communities from the parliamentary group Six plus requested review of the agreement. They called on violation of the rights and laws, emphasizing that the judges and prosecutors from Bosnian, Turkish, Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities should also apply for the positions in the north.

Deputy Minister Qelaj denied accusations, pointing out that members of Bosnian, Turkish, Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities usually lack the competence and in such a way cannot meet requirements for the vacant positions.

Four members of the Committee from among the Serbian community did not attend the meeting.
