Maric: The formation of the ZSO crucial for the survival of Serbs (RTS)
Respect of the Brussels Treaty and the formation of the Community/Association of Serbian municipalities are crucial for the survival of Serbs in Kosovo, says Ljubomir Maric, Minister for Local Self-Government in Kosovo. He claims that the Serbs had the support of the international community and announced the formation of inter-ministerial group for the return of displaced Serbs.
Visiting the RTS1, Maric said that the attacks and unrest in Macedonia clearly indicate with what kind of security challenges we are living.
"Serbs with fear follow everything that is happening in neighbouring Macedonia. The Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija through experience have learned that they are the first target of such unrests, as the weakest group," said Maric.
Regarding the cancellation of the meeting in Brussels, on the formation of the Association/Community of Serbian municipalities, Maric said that for all in Kosovo was of key importance to respect the Brussels agreement.
"For Serbs the first six points, referring to the Community of Serbian municipalities, are the most important. The guarantor of the agreement is the international community and I expect that it will soon schedule a meeting which will discuss the issue," said Maric.
