The problem is implementation of the Brussels Agreement (TV Most, Vecernje Novosti)
Vice President of the Belgian government Didier Reynders said that he hopes that the first chapter in the accession negotiations between Serbia and the EU will be opened soon, but in order to happen this year, all partners should be convinced.
Reinders said that Serbia "gives quite a good example" in European integrations, citing the agreement between Belgrade and Pristina, but now needs to be seen how the agreement is implemented. "I was very pleased with the fact so many meetings between Belgrade and Pristina were organized during the previous composition of the European Commission, with the mediation of Catherine Ashton. Now the problem is implementation, in order to make real progress," said Reynders.
Vice President of the Belgian Government pointed out that the EU is trying to see how further progress in the Balkans can be achieved, pointing out that the attitude of Belgium was always identical: "We are trying to determine, on the basis of individual merit, how each country can make a new step."
Reynders confirmed that during this five-year term there will be no EU enlargement, but that does not mean that continuation of enlargement cannot be prepared.
