The Serbian List: Civil Defense is not a parallel structure (Kontakt Plus Radio)
The Civil Defense has never been, nor is the parallel structure, but one of the few institutions acting with utmost responsibility when it comes to the people’s lives and their safety in hazardous situations, announced today the Serbian List reacting to the Kosovo government’s intention to disband the Civil Defense.
The intention of the government in Pristina is a clumsy attempt to once again set a less important topic as a priority, which should be solved jointly and with full consensus and political agreement, the statement said.
In a statement signed by the president of the List Aleksandar Jablanovic was added that Civil Protection always acts responsibly in life threatening conditions and situations like fires, floods, maintenance of essential roads in winter and public areas ... or in all segments essential for the normal lives of citizens.
Jablanović underlined that Civil Defense is not organized as a security structure, nor has ever operated as such in the past. "The future of the Civil Defense is guaranteed by the Brussels agreement which specifies that members of this service will be sent to the other institutions in Kosovo, in order to serve the citizens with their experience, commitment and personal qualities," he said.
