At midnight should start implementation of the agreement on insurance of vehicles (Radio Kontakt plus)
Implementation of the memorandum on vehicle insurance, which representatives of Belgrade and Pristina reached in Brussels, should begin on Tuesday midnight.
The agreement means that the vehicles registered in Kosovo will be able to go to central Serbia with the insurance document MTPL (motor third party liability). For the vehicles with Serbian license plates, in Kosovo will be sufficient insurance document that is valid in Serbia.
This agreement should have come into force on July 24, one month after it was reached, but was delayed, and both, Belgrade and Pristina, blamed the other side for the delay.
As previously reported, MTPL for Serbia will cost the same as for Macedonia, which means, depending on the category of vehicle about 40 euros for passenger vehicles. On the other side Kosovo citizens will no longer have to pay the temporary plates while entering Serbia.
Kosovo is not a member of the Green Card System so drivers from Kosovo still do not have green cards for their vehicles.
Minister of Communities and Returns in the Kosovo government Dalibor Jevtic said that agreement on car insurance will prevent additional financial cost to the citizens. As he stated, agreement will additionally reduce the procedure at the crossings and reduce congestions hoping that there will be no further delay in its implementation.
