Kosovo in UNESCO; the heritage of Serbs will not be Albanian (Radio Kontakt Plus)
Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Alexei Lidov told Sputnik that Kosovo will probably become a member of the UNESCO. Lidov is an expert of UNESCO, Director of the Research Center for Eastern Christian culture.
When asked whether the expectations of the Kosovo Foreign Minister Hashim Thaci regarding Kosovo’s admission to UNESCO in November are realistic, Russian academician said that there is a strong possibility that this happens.
"We have already had such an experience, a big scandal, when Palestine Liberation Organization was received in UNESCO. Bearing in mind that most Western countries recognized Kosovo's independence, personally, I see no reason that UNESCO refuse Kosovo, regardless of the fact that there are a large number of states that have not recognized Kosovo's independence," said Lidov.
According to him, such a development would not be bad because it would be another additional protection of monuments in Kosovo, but he added that Serbian heritage will never become Albanian because there are science and history in the world and experts from different countries who would not agree to serve Albanian propaganda.
