Ethnically motivated attacks should be severely punished (RTK2)
Latest incidents have stirred up the security situation in Kosovo. Representatives of the Serbian community in the Kosovo government said that the system must adequately respond to all ethnically motivated attacks.
In an interview with RTK2, Deputy Prime Minister Branimir Stojanovic said: "It is obvious that the situation still is not good enough, and probably will never be. There are too many of those who nurture the hatred against Serbs and unfortunately pass it to the children. Now it is important that the system answers to all these ethnically motivated attacks. There are very clear guidelines under the Criminal Code when it comes to ethnic motive and consequently with penalties, which are very severe," said Stojanovic.
The Ministry of Interior said that the security situation in Kosovo is stable but tense. Deputy Interior Minister Milan Radojevic says that judiciary has an important role in punishing the perpetrators.
Stojanovic and Radojevic appealed to members of the Serbian community to report all cases of assault or harassment.
