Preparations are ongoing for census that will be carried out by the Kosovo government in four municipalities in northern Kosovo with Serb majority. Preparations were discussed yesterday by the Minister without portfolio in the Kosovo government Edita Tahiri, Minister of Culture Kujtim Shala and the director at Eurostat Pieter Everaers, communicated the Office of the Prime Minister.

The Office further communicated that census will be carried out based on the Brussels Agreement’s achievement, which has created a political climate for this important process. Census in northern Kosovo was one of the conditions set the by the Serbian List for their return to Kosovo institutions after their boycott of institutions, which followed deposition of the leader of the Serbian List Aleksandar Jablanovic from the post of the minister for communities and return. Repetition of census was also requested and by the official in other Serb-majority municipalities as a precondition for having realistic municipal budgets.
