Licence for Telekom in exchange for area code (Politika)
Politika writes in today's edition that Pristina little has implemented from the Brussels Agreement. One of the unfulfilled promises is a licence for Telekom for fixed and mobile telephony on the territory of Kosovo.
This is the reason why Belgrade has not given permission to Austria to apply in the name of Kosovo, for the area code (303), which was part of the agreement between Belgrade and Pristina.
"The license is important, because otherwise Telekom works illegally. We want to ensure that Telekom operates legally in Kosovo and Metohija. We want calls from Kosovo to central Serbia to be treated as local, not international," say in the Government of Serbia for the newspaper.
For Belgrade is very important that the official request, in a footnote, states that it is a geographical code in question, which a part of our country gained with the consent of Serbia.
"Serbia must be mentioned in the document. Without our country, Kosovo and Metohija cannot obtain the area code, because the province is not a member of the United Nations," said the Serbian government.
Media in Pristina report that Austria has not even submitted the application because, as stated, this process was conditioned by Serbia, with the registration of its own telephone company in Kosovo.
