Mitić: Serbian List not invited to sign petition on election of the president (Blic)

MP from the Serbian List in the Kosovo parliament Bojan Mitić said last night that MPs from this list were not invited to sign a petition for calling an extraordinary session of the Kosovo parliament during which the president of Kosovo is to be elected, and added that the Serbian List will not present a candidate for this post.

“No one invited us to sign the petition,” said Mitic and added that MPs from the ranks of the Serbian List have agreed not to present their candidate for the president of Kosovo. Albanian language media in Kosovo reported that MPs of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), led by Hashim Thaci, are gathering signatures for a petition aimed at calling an extraordinary session of the Kosovo parliament where MPs would elect the president.

President of Kosovo should be elected by 6 March at the latest, since the incumbent President of Kosovo Atifete Jahjaga’s term in office expires on 6 April.
