Negotiations on future Kosovo government (RTK2)

Representatives of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) believe that, together with other opposition parties, they will manage to create the new government. In the Democratic Party of Kosovo (DPK) say that there is still time for talks and that Hashim Thaçi is the only legitimate prime minister designate.

In the AAK believe that their leader will be the prime minister and that agreement of the opposition parties will lead toward the creation of the new movement, said Ahmet Isufi, the candidate for the MP form the AAK.

“There is a full consensus in that regard. All political parties, during their campaigns, declared that they don’t want the creation of the government with Thaçi, due to corruption and organized crime in the previous two mandates of his government. Thus, no one is interested to be in coalition with him and it will be good for Kosovo that he is in the opposition,” said Isufi.

The agreement reached amongst the opposition parties, which provides that Ramush Haradinaj will be the new prime minister designate, is considered by the PDK as unconstitutional, whereas President of Kosovo Atifete Jahjaga could also address the Constitutional Court.

Ardian Arifaj, the new advisor to the outgoing prime minister Thaçi, says that there is still time and that talks on the creation of new government are not over yet. Arifaj argues that post of the prime minister designate belongs to his party, even in the case that Constitutional Court rules against the stance of the PDK.

“What is most important for us is that most legitimate candidate for the post of the prime minister designate is the Prime Minister Thaçi, because he won the trust of more than thirty per cent of voters in Kosovo, and not some others who won less. The PDK was waiting for the certification of election results by the Central Election Commission in order to enter the negotiations with possible partners for the new coalition,” said Arifaj.

No one confirmed in any of those parties that Hashim Thaçi offered the post of the prime minister to Ramush Haradinaj if he accepts the coalition with the PDK.

Isufi and Arifaj say that there will be negotiations with parties from Serbian community and that their parties advocate for the government where there will be a room for minorities’ representatives.
