Protests in Dečani/Deçan against the court decision (KIM Radio)

The leadership of Dečani/Deçan Municipality has called for protests on Thursday in that town due to the Constitutional Court’s decision that Visoki Dečani Monastery owns 24 hectares of land around that monastery, Pristina-based media informed.

The Mayor of Dečani/Deçan, Rasim Selmanaj, has called on protests through his Facebook account, and said that decision of the Constitutional Court is ‘unjust and influenced by politics’.

Extraordinary session of the municipal assembly in Dečani/Deçan, in relation to the court’s decision, is due to take place on Wednesday whereas protests are announced to take place at 12:00 on Thursday. Pristina-based media also reported that due to the opposition of the local Kosovo-Albanian leadership to this decision, KFOR has stepped up the security around the Visoki Dečani Monastery.
