Kidnapping of journalists in Kosovo without investigation (Blic)
The association of Journalists of Serbia (UNS) and the Association of the Journalists of Kosovo and Metohija (DNKiM) will set on Thursday the memorial plaque, at the spot where on August 21, 16 years ago, were kidnap journalists of Radio Pristina, Djuro Slavuj and Ranko Perenić. They were kidnapped on the road Velika Hoca – Zočište, in Orahovac municipality. On the plaque will be written message, in Serbian and Albanian language: “Here, on 21 August 1998, disappeared journalists. We are looking for them.”
Associations already twice set memorial plaque, but unknown persons demolished it and removed. First time the plaque was set in October 2012, and the second time in September 2013.
On 21 August 1998, Djuro Slavuj and Slavko Perenić went to the monastery Sveti Vraci in Zočište to make a report about the return of the kidnapped monk. According to the information which their families have, they were last seen in Velika Hoca, in the morning, from where they mistakenly went to Orahovac/Rahovec, which at that time was under the control of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
The car in which they were, blue Zastava 128, has never been found. To date, families Perenić and Slavuj do not have any official information about their fate.
