Community of Serb Municipalities as "key issue" (media)
Establishment of the Community of Serb Municipalities (ZSO) is a key issue raised by Belgrade's delegation with EU representatives in Brussels.
Marko Djuric, head of the Serbian Government Office for Kosovo and Metohija, said this on Tuesday.
Although it has committed itself to this at the top political level, Pristina is still unwilling to discuss the topic, he said, according to Tanjug.
"We are repeating to EU representatives here - whom we see as primarily responsible for implementation of all agreements - that the fact that the Community of Serb Municipalities is not only not talked about in public, but that some communities reaching beyond the borders of our country that are not the Community of Serb Municipalities are talked about is not conducive to a climate of normalizing relations or easing tensions in the region."
"Separatism - no, cooperation with Albanians - yes," he said, in what the Beta agency said was a remark referring to the recent establishment of a union of five Albanian municipalities in the region.
Djuric also said that the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue in Brussels "should produce by the end of the week a final agreement to open the basic court and a Serbian-majority appellate chamber in Kosovska Mitrovica, and a deal on the launch of Telekom Srbija's base stations covering a considerable part of Kosovo."
After a second day of talks with the Pristina delegation, he said it was "absurd" that the Albanian party did not even want to talk about the Community of Serb Municipalities, even though the authorities in Pristina were bound to that under the Brussels agreement, signed at the highest political level.
