Leader of the Civic Initiative Freedom, Democracy, Justice (GI SDP) Oliver Ivanovic and a former mayor of Zvecan municipality, Dragisa Milovic announced yesterday at the press conference they will participate in the local elections in the four northern municipalities, and urged responsible institutions to resolve the cases of burning down their vehicles.
Ivanovic said there is a possibility that the GI SDP would participate in local elections in some municipalities south of the Ibar River but did not say whether he would run for the mayor of the Mitrovica North municipality. Meanwhile, Dragisa Milovic said he will run for the mayor of Zvecan, as a candidate of a wider civic initiative whose member will also be GI SDP.
“Thanks to the support of citizens, friends, GI SDP and many other associations, I would run for the mayor of Zvecan municipality. I will work in the interest of the citizens in the municipality, because Zvecan must be a quiet and safe place, where young people would not use and sell drugs, but a place where all citizens would feel safe,” Milovic underlined at the conference, Serbian media reported.
“In regard to the local elections, the SDP is preparing for them and would participate in all four northern municipalities and in a few municipalities south of the Ibar River. At last elections, we had very good results and I think this year we would significantly exceed these results,” Ivanovic said.
Ivanovic and Milovic also said attacks against their properties did not intimidate them, adding intimidation, however, did not stop there.
Milovic said his daughter received verbal threats recently, asking if the physical attack is to follow, Kontakt Plus Radio reported.
They also said there are no news from the police regarding burning down of their vehicles, however Ivanovic underlined it is more important to find out who the mastermind was and not that much who the perpetrators were.
