Munter on USA participation in Belgrade-Pristina dialogue (Tanjug, B92)
Former USA Ambassador to Serbia, Cameron Munter, who is now heading the The East-West Institute, said he is an optimist, seeing the people in the region having the spirit and willingness to resolve the issues, shared by all, Tanjug news agency reported.
In that sense, he particularly mentioned Serbian President, Aleksandar Vucic. Munter believes that the crucial solution must come from the people and leadership in the region. “Europeans and Americans would like to follow people from the region in resolving the remaining issues,” Munter said, Serbian media reported. Asked to comment on the invitation by the Kosovo Prime Minister to USA to get involved in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue and whether would that happen, Munter said that: “The role of the USA is to support, and they did not, nor ever intended to be someone who would come and tell – here comes solution”. When solutions are found, and they, he repeated, depend upon the people in the region, then USA is ready to help, together with the European friends, having in mind the aim of all in the region to enter the EU, Serbian media reported.
