CI SDP: Ivanovic’s defence is ready (RTK2)
The deadline for the submission of evidence for the defence of CI SDP leader, Oliver Ivanovic, who was last month indicted for war crimes, expires on 26 September.
EULEX prosecutor filed an indictment against Oliver Ivanovic, after he spent nearly a year in custody. His team of lawyers is ready for the trial and their objections and evidence will be submitted to the court before the deadline. "He has the team of lawyers who are actively engaged in preparing his defence. During the course of day, possibly tomorrow, they will submit a response to the lawsuit and the evidence. We expect that judiciary and the prosecution will have little understanding and speed up the commencement of a trial," said Vice-president of the SDP, Ksenija Bozovic.
According to Bozovic, the biggest injustice was that Oliver Ivanovic was denied the right to be released pending trial. "All other requests, as you know, were rejected. We asked for home detention, in order to prepare defence with his lawyers in other environment, but unfortunately EULEX has declined all our requests," said Bozovic.
Ivanovic’s defence team believes in the positive outcome of the trial. Ksenija Bozovic is thankful to the media which reported on the topic and in such a way speeded up indictment that will enable faster recognition of Ivanovic's innocence.
