Panel discussion in Zvecan: The role of women in society (Radio Mitrovica Sever)
Panel discussion on "The role of women in society, focus on the region of Mitrovica" was held at the Cultural Center in Zvecan, reports Radio Mitrovica Sever.
This event was opened by Mayor Vucina Jankovic, who said that the eighth of March was not a regular day, but the day when the loudest messages about women's rights can be heard from all sides, but that it should be discussed every day of the year.
"I promise you that the Municipality Zvecan, and me as the Mayor, will do our best to make sure that women were not deprived of their rights," said Jankovic, pointing out that women must always be respected.
The Special Representative of the UN Secretary General in Kosovo, Zahir Tanin, addressed the audience and opened an exhibition of photographs of the author Shehida Miftari from Prizren.
The author showed woman of the traditional folklore of the Gorani ethnicity.
Tanin expressed his satisfaction over his stay in Zvecan, thanking the organizers for the invitation. He said that Zvecan was a positive example for all municipalities in Kosovo, not just in the north, where women were still insufficiently represented in municipal administrations.
Biljana Jaredic, the president of the Municipal Assembly Zvecan, the councilor Blagica Radovanovic, the head of administration of Mitrovica municipality Adrijana Hodzic and the author of the exhibition Shehida Miftari spoke about the position of women today in the society spoke .
This event was organized by the women's councillor group of the Municipal Assembly of Zvecan in cooperation with the Municipality of Zvecan, and was supported by the United Nations Mission in Kosovo.
