Srpska Lista criticizes frequent mistakes in translation (Tanjug, RTS)

Srpska Lista voiced today criticism over frequent translation mistakes in draft laws sent to the Kosovo Assembly for adoption, which violates the rights of Serbs, and the latest case is related to draft amendments to the Criminal Code, Tanjug news agency reported.

Srpska Lista member of the Legislation Committee, Igor Simic requested the draft amendments to the Criminal Code, presented by the Kosovo Minister of Justice, Abelard Tahiri to be sent for correction due to poor translation in Serbian langue. Simic noted the draft law contains numerous language, grammar and legal mistakes.

“Translation issue is a problem that is ongoing and is not resolved,” Simic said, noting that Serbian language has to be equally respected as Albanian.

Minister Tahiri said they are aware of the problem, but Judicial Council cannot find sufficient number of translators. The draft Criminal Code was approved by Albanian members of the Committee, while Simic was against it, Serbian media reported.
