Haradinaj to try to form government through individual MPs (Koha Ditore)

Ramush Haradinaj, PAN coalition’s candidate for prime minister, is expected to make an official call to Vetevendosje and LDK-AKR-Alternativa coalition to join him in forming the new government but if this fails, he will attempt to enlist support from individual MPs of different parties, the paper reports on the front page.

Kosovo at a crossroad (Zeri)

The paper writes on the front page that Kosovo is considered to be at one of the most crucial crossroads in its recent history with the formation of the new government proving to be quite a challenge. Meanwhile, analysts consider a government with a simple majority and the inclusion of the Serbian List would be “dangerous” whereas a government with Albanian-party majority is thought to be impossible because of politicians’ selfish interests.

Apostolova: Leaders to form a strong government to tackle reforms (Zeri)

The Head of the EU Office in Kosovo and Special Representative, Nataliya Apostolova, said in a statement following certification of election results that it is now up to the political leaders to form a stable government that would serve the interests of the people. “Kosovo faces many challenges, from high unemployment and low performing education system, to corruption and weak rule of law, which remain an impediment to attracting sustainable investment to develop the economy. It is therefore crucial that the political leaders take these challenges seriously, form a strong government and embark upon the reforms that the people demand”, Apostolova said.

Brnabic: Serbia to talk to anyone who represents Kosovo (RTK)

In an interview for Belgrade paper Blic, Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic was asked who she thought would be a more suitable Kosovo prime minister for Serbia, Ramush Haradinaj or Albin Kurti to which she replied: “Kosovo is part of Serbia and as responsible partners we will talk to anyone that represents the other side”.  She said she would be ready to partake in the EU-facilitated dialogue in Brussels but that “according to the EU it would be better to have the dialogue at a presidential level”.

Veseli, PAN’s candidate for Assembly Speaker (Zeri)

Leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Kadri Veseli, has been announced as PAN coalition’s candidate for the post of Assembly Speaker. The news was confirmed by PDK deputy leader, Rexhep Hoti to RTK.

Negotiations for creation of new government start (Epoka e Re)

Certification of the 11 June elections by the Central Election Commission, gave the green light to the political parties to constitute the new Assembly of Kosovo within a month. Officials of the PAN coalition expressed conviction that they would create the government without any problem. Member of the leadership of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), Time Kadrijaj, told Epoka e Re that Ramush Haradinaj has already started negotiations with individuals and political parties and according to her the new government will be created soon. International community appealed for creation of a strong government due to many challenges that await Kosovo.
