Opposition to object demarcation “by force” (RFE)
Representatives of the opposition political parties have threatened that they would use “all means” to prevent ratification of the agreement for the border demarcation with Montenegro. These statements came after the meeting between the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa with the European Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship Dimitris Avramopoulos, who appealed to Kosovo government and political parties to proceed with voting at the Assembly as soon as possible.
Kosovo Assembly MP from Vetevendosje movement, Shqipe Pantina, said all methods will be used to prevent ratification “which is harmful for the country.” She said that the government has not changed its position on the matter, and opposition does not have to change its position either. “We have not discussed the details yet, but our objection will be as powerful as it has been so far, because we do not think and we do not believe that territory should be given away for any reason.” Pantina said.
Kosovo Assembly MP from the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ali Berisha, said the agreement is harmful and it should not be ratified. He added that AAK would vote against the current agreement no matter when it is brought at the Assembly. “The best solution would have been for the political parties to agree to bring the agreement to the Assembly, reject it and start re-negotiation of this agreement as soon as possible,” Berisha said. He excluded the possibility of use of violent methods and tear gas at the Assembly.
