UN experts continue with their fact-finding mission in Kosovo (kohaonline)
The United Nations Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances continues today with its visit to Kosovo, in a fact finding mission for the missing persons.
The three members of the Working Group, Mr. Ariel Dulitzky, Ms. Jasminka Dzumhur, and Mr. Osman el-Hajjé, met yesterday with President Jahjaga, the Working Group for the Missing and Government Commission for the Missing Persons.
Head of the UN Working Group for Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances Ariel Dulitzky, said the intention of this mission is to gather facts and learn from close about the issue of the missing in the entire Balkan region as well as learn about the challenges that countries with missing persons as consequence of armed conflicts face.
He said the position of the UN is to enlighten the fate of the missing as soon as possible, not only in Kosovo but also in other countries of the region which underwent armed conflicts, in order for the families to gain justice and to be taken care by the society.
During their visit in Kosovo, UN experts will meet with representatives of the Kosovo authorities, relatives of disappeared persons, representatives of civil society organizations, and other stakeholders. The experts will also pay a visit to Graҫanicë/ Gracanica and Rezallë/Rezalle (Skenderaj/Srbica municipality)
