The Republic is growing internationally (Koha Ditore)
Halil Matoshi argues that Kosovo’s society considers opposition’s objection to any initiative in favor of the Euro-Atlantic integration as proclaiming war against western democracy, against the U.S. and the EU. He notes that using a false cause could lead the opposition toward becoming a history. “Anyone who is familiar with the verdict of the International Court of Justice on the declaration of the independence of Kosovo, would not act as Kosovo’s opposition, which is not reading or interpreting correctly to the public the international documents and agreements with Kosovo,” writes Matoshi adding that such misinterpretations are made intentionally. “Within this context, refusing to vote ratification of the Stabilization Association Agreement at the Assembly and to claim population’s vote for a better governing of the Republic, represents a political nonsense… SAA reaffirms Kosovo’s statehood not only in relation to the EU integration, but also in relation to international law, because if SAA is an international agreement (which it is) then all the other arguments about this document do not stand,” Matoshi writes.
He further accuses the opposition of Kosovo for minimizing the importance of this document as well as Chapter 35 of the negotiations between the EU and Serbia, basic principles of the Association/Community of Serb-majority Municipalities. He notes that three major benefits of Kosovo from the SSA agreement are contractual agreement with the EU, Kosovo being treated by EU member states as a state “and finally, SAA definitely transforms Pristina-Belgrade dialogue into the Kosovo-Serbia one. So, a dialogue among equal parties,” Matoshi notes.
Therefore, concludes Matoshi, Kosovo’s affirmation in the international plan does not mean supporting the government, as opposition claims, but supporting freedom.
