Djuric: Returnees to return easier (KIM radio)

The Director of the Serbian government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija Marko Djuric said that Serbia will enable easier return to all who wish to return.

Djuric yesterday met with the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the US Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration Simon Henshaw, with whom he discussed problems related to internally displaced persons.  Office for Kosovo issued a handout stating that Djuric highlighted property issues and security as the main reasons that influence implementation of the return of displaced persons.

He said that ‘ongoing political process aims at improving condition which will enable improved living conditions to all who live in Kosovo and Metohija,’ and added  that this could lead to easier return of all who wish to return.

Henshaw stressed that the US Bureau for Population, Refugees and Migration is already implementing two separate projects in the region.“The first one is assisting in settling legal issues of potential returnees, and the second one refers to assisting those who decide to remain in their place of residence to integrate into local community and to rely on their own forces in their future life,” reads the Office’s handout.
