Gracanica Mayor, Vladeta Kostic said today that the Municipality of Gracanica is very familiar with the constitutional and legal regulations and that reminder of the Youth of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, who have visited the municipality of Gracanica and handed the flag and the Constitution of Kosovo, is unnecessary.
In a statement to the media, Kostic said that the municipality of Gracanica uses and displays symbols of the community in accordance with law and international standards.
"The municipality of Gracanica respect the rights of minorities, we are open for cooperation with everyone and we are trying to solve everyday problems of citizens regardless of national differences. I want to remind you that our municipality is not in conflict with legal and constitutional requirements, therefore, we believe, such reminders are unnecessary for us. Our rights are guaranteed by the constitution and laws," said Kostic.
Representatives of the Youth Union of the Democratic Party of Kosovo yesterday handed the flag and the Constitution of Kosovo to representatives of Gracanica.
Fidan Ismaili, representative of the Youth of the Democratic Party of Kosovo said the same gift was delivered to the Mayor of Pristina, Shpend Ahmeti.
"The goal is to deliver to you the flag and the Constitution of Kosovo, so that the same is respected. We do not want to cause disturbances in inter-ethnic relations, but the Independence Day to be celebrated, both in Pristina and in Gracanica and all municipalities in Kosovo," said Ismaili.
Media adviser to Gracanica municipality, Fatmir Sheholli conveyed the attitude of the Mayor of Gracanica Vladete Kostic, that on February 17, Gracanica municipality as well as any other municipality in Kosovo does not work.
"We have nothing against that which the law allows and enables you to work with any political entities. They entered here with absolute freedom and performed their performance," said Sheholli.
