Former Serbian police officers announced protest tomorrow in Mitrovica (KoSSev)
At least 500 former Serbian police officers and administrative staff from all former Serbian police department in northern and southern Kosovo will stage a protest tomorrow at 11:00 in North Mitrovica in front of the Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo and Meotohija, which is only the initial one since they announced another one in a week time, which could be radicalized by blockades of administrative crossings in the north if their requests are not met.
They request full integration of all non-integrated employees of the former Serbian police department in Mitrovica into Kosovo Police system, that all who can’t be integrated are allowed to return to the Ministry of Interior of Serbia (MUP), and amendment of the regulation on ‘special retirement’ of police officers and other MUP employees in order to harmonize it with relevant Serbian laws.
Former Serbian police officers expect their colleagues from a police union from Belgrade to join them tomorrow. They called the director of the Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija to join them, too. They expect employees form the judiciary to join them, who are also dissatisfied with their employment status after agreement on judiciary was reached in Brussels in February. They appealed and on all other state bodies’ employees to join them if they are not satisfied with their status.
Former police officers say that there are certain shifts after they managed to bring their problems in the focus of general public, however they are still dissatisfied with the ignorant attitude toward their requests by the Serbian Prime Minister’s Office and the MUP, which are not responding at all to their request.
