Đurić: Health and education in Serbia’s system (TV Most)
The director of Serbia’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija Marko Đurić said that Serbia has fulfilled its obligations deriving from the Brussels Agreement and expects the start of the process of creation of the Association/Community of Serb municipalities (A/CSM) in the next month and a half.
The plan of implementation of the Brussels Agreements is clear and its first element is harmonization of new legal frameworks. Pristina is obliged to amend the laws in order to create the A/CSM, second element is creation of the A/CSM while we’ve already implemented the other elements, such as local elections, integration of police and establishment of the judiciary, said Đurić in North Mitrovica. He added that international community should behave as a guarantor and exert certain pressure on those who don’t fulfill their part of obligations since they are, as he put it, neither sovereign nor independent in their decision making.
When asked by journalists whether members of the Kosovo Security Forces (KSF) were involved in the search for a missing Albanian youngster in northern Kosovo, Đurić said that “there are no uniformed and armed KSF members in the north”. “No one would agree on the presence of armed and uniformed KSF members in any role, as agreed by the Brussels Agreement, without the approval of Serbs from northern Kosovo and Metohija,” said Đurić and reminded that the only forces that can be present in Kosovo are Serbian Army and KFOR, under the UN mandate.
Marko Đurić particularly stressed that Serbian institutions must perform better in Kosovo. “There are many things that could be improved, the time has come to create the foundation for better future of these people. Health and education sectors will remain in the Serbia’s system and exactly from that reason the best schools and hospitals should be here, instead of being ashamed how those premises look like now and how people work in them. We must correct this,” said Đurić.
