Nikolic: Kosovo in UNESCO - hotbed of future conflicts (Tanjug)
Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic told ambassadors in Belgrade today that a consideration of the Kosovo's application for admission into UNESCO would have a negative impact on the dialogue in Brussels and that any imposed agreement would be a hotbed of future conflict.
Addressing the ambassadors of 80 countries, Nikolic said that Serbia was the only country in Europe which was robbed, so that the part of its territory has been taken away, but also and the protected cultural heritage. Nikolic said it was outright hypocrisy when it has been said that those who were destroying Serbia's cultural heritage in Kosovo would now be far better in protecting it.
Nikolic warned that debating Kosovo's requests for admission to UNESCO would have an extremely negative impact on the (Belgrade-Pristina dialogue), would lead to divisions among UNESCO members, and affect regional stabilization on the road to the EU.
