Maric: Mild reaction of the EU (RTS)

The coordinator of the steering team for creation of the Association/Community of Serb municipalities (A/CSM), Ljubomir Maric, said to Radio Television Serbia that he is worried with the fact that decision on postponement of the creation of the A/CSM is made without consultations with Serbs, to whom agreement refers, and opines that this bears another message which is not good. Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga two days ago called Kosovo Constitutional Court to examine constitutionality of the agreement on A/CSM.

“Two and a half years Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija have listened various justifications for postponing this agreement. There are always ways to really implement it with exclusive and strong pressure by the international community, that is EU, which is the guarantor of this agreement,” said Maric, and added that reaction of the EU with regard to this initiative was very mild and inappropriate to the circumstances. According to him the EU has to set a concrete deadline for creation of the A/CSM, and come up with a stand whether the agreement on creation of the A/CSM is suspended.

“What worries is wording suspension, that is something that is very dangerous and we will see what this means,” said Maric, and explained that the deadline for Kosovo Constitutional Court’s decision about constitutionality of the agreement is 60 days. “We expect serious reaction of the Serbian Government,” concluded Maric.
