Brussels agreement meaningless without the ZSO (Vesti)
No matter how absurd it may sound, the so-called Kosovo Constitutional Court did what the Constitutional Court of Serbia was supposed to do, to defend the highest legal act of the state, says Doctor Darko Simovic, Professor of Constitutional law at the Police Academy.
-We can only speculate whether Kosovo would give up the implementation of the Brussels Agreement on the basis of a final decision of the court. Suspension of the agreement on the ZSO may be interpreted as a maneuver trick to create the illusion of the disadvantages of the Brussels agreement from the standpoint of Albanian interests and which aims to soothe the turbulent internal political situation. At the same time, it can also be a political bluff, which seeks to place the Republic of Serbia to an even worse position, where and nominal recognition of the Republic of Kosovo would be expected, and in turn would be guaranteed the preservation of the ZSO. In any case, the Brussels agreement becomes meaningless for Serbia without preservation of the ZSO - says Simovic.
- Since it is an irreversible process the constitutional rounding of sovereign authorities of Kosovo, this policy of Serbia, in the long run, will inevitably lead to international rounding of the subjectivity of the so-called Republic of Kosovo. Because of that, the collapse of the Brussels Agreement, challenged by the eventual decision of the Constitutional Court of Kosovo, may be a new opportunity for Serbia to protect national interests and approaches more responsible and wiser, but this time in accordance with the Constitution - says Simovic.
