Rada Trajkovic: The number of Serbs is decreasing (Kontakt plus radio)
The number of Serbs in Kosovo, after the Brussels talks, every day is reducing says director of the NGO European Movement of Serbs from Gracanica, Rada Trajkovic.
According to her assessment, Serbs are leaving Kosovo because they do not trust the Kosovo institutions.
-I think that if we Serbs lose ties with Serbia, we will be a nation without a state. Kosovo does not recognize us, does not recognize our language, we have continuity of discrimination and at every step you feel that you are not a resident of this area - says Rada Trajkovic.
It was expected after the Brussels Agreement for the Serbs to leave Kosovo, and it is happening, said Dusan Janjic, director of the Forum for Ethnic Relations in Belgrade.
-It was expected, for example the number of Serbs has reduced, by joining the Kosovo justice system, who might have the opportunity to work, like in the police, and in health care. Secondly, in legal terms, these people were able to choose, to accept to work in the Kosovo institutions or they can go, as many have chosen - said Janjic.
Janjic adds that the doctors and medical staff are very welcome in central Serbia because such personnel began to emigrate from central Serbia.
Janjic and Trajkovic participated in the debate in Mitrovica's social club where they spoke on the topic "Are Serbs slowly leaving Kosovo" and the influence of political processes on the emigration of the Serbian community from Kosovo.
The event was organized by the NGO "Aktiv" and supported by the Kosovo Foundation for Open Society.
