Law on Use of Languages is good, but is not respected (KiM radio)

Language rights in Kosovo are still not sufficiently respected- is the phrase which is heard each year on the occasion of the Day of Mother Tongue. That was indicated during the meeting of a working group of the Consultative Council for Community Affairs organized on this occasion. "The Council so far suggested recommendations to institutions that do not respect the rights of non-majority communities," said Chairman Darko Dimitrijevic.

Good legislation when it comes to use of mother languages of minority communities in Kosovo is not implemented in practice, minorities are discriminated, and institutions unprofessional, says chairman of the working group for language issues Taner Gucluturk. He recalls that still there is a lack of seriousness of local institutions, especially in instances of misspelled names and topographical indications.
