In Gračanica informally starts the campaign of the Serbian List (RTS)
One month before the local elections, only leading Albanian parties began campaigning in Kosovo. In the October 22nd elections, 91 political parties and civic initiatives will take part. There are also independent candidates for mayors and councillors of municipal assemblies.
There are 38 municipalities in Kosovo, of which the Serbs control 10. There were dozens of Serb parties and civic initiatives registered for the councillors and presidents of these municipalities. However, the Serbian List was the only one that gained support of the government of Serbia and the president of Serbia, reports Radio television of Serbia (RTS).
Campaign of the other Serb parties is expected in the coming days.
The campaign of the Serbian List was launched informally last night at the academy held in Gračanica on the day of the municipality.
Srđan Popović, candidate of the Serbian List for the Mayor of Gračanica, expects victory of all candidates of the Serbian List in all ten municipalities.
"The primary objective of the Serbian List is the establishment of the Community of Serbian Municipalities (ZSO), and the quality of the organization of the ZSO will depend on who are the candidates or the representatives of the municipalities. There are many burning issues in Gračanica - economic development, young people do not have enough jobs - we will have to work on it, then sale of property that we will have to focus on in the coming period," Popović said.
